Introduction to Weather and Climate

Course Prerequisite

MATH 096, MATH 098, MATH 099, or MATH 110 with a grade of C or better or placement into MATH 110 or higher, and approved reading placement score, or equivalent.

Course Description

This course explores the basic understanding of the processes that produce our weather and climate. In addition to studying the elements of weather and climate -- temperature, moisture, pressure, and wind -- the course examines the causes for day-to-day weather changes, the nature of violent storms such as tornadoes and hurricanes, and surveys world climatic patterns. A study of air pollution and human impact on urban and global climates, as well as natural and unnatural causes of climate change are also included.
