History of Photography

Course Description

This course surveys the historical development of photography as an art form from 1839 to the present, including critical analysis of the types of photographs and aesthetic movements in photography. Students examine photographs as expressions of aesthetic and humanistic value, which are created by artists working within cultural and social contexts.
