Course Description

This course is intended to establish an understanding of the role of chemistry in modern society by developing the principles of chemistry in the context of their social, environmental, and cultural impact. At a technical level, it surveys basic principles of chemistry: experimental measurements, matter, chemical symbols, atomic and molecular structure, the chemical bond, temperature, heat and energy conversions, the gas laws, solution chemistry, and basic chemical calculations. Credit will not be granted to those students who have already earned credit in a previous college level chemistry course of comparable or higher level.
