Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to

identify some of the major works and genres of non-Western literature and explain some of the distinctive characteristics of non-Western literatures.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to

interpret the formal elements of these works, using appropriate literary terminology, such as theme, conflict, plot, and figurative language.
