Goal

Goal 1 Students will demonstrate technical skills related to troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of precision agriculture equipment.

Learning Outcomes

1. Describe the fundamentals of precision agriculture, including Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographical information systems (GIS), yield monitors, remote sensing, drones, grid soil sampling, variable rate application and vehicle guidance.
2. Discuss the principles of crop production, including the harvesting of farm crops, principles of plant growth and development, selection of varieties, crop diseases, and market classes and grades of major local crops.
3. Apply the principles of electricity to the operation of heavy equipment.
4. Identify the principles and components of hydraulic circuits and apply their use in the maintenance, inspection, testing, analysis, and servicing of agricultural and industrial construction equipment.
5. Operate, test, trouble shoot, analyze, repair, and maintain electronic control/monitoring systems used in heavy equipment.
6. Operate, repair, adjust, assemble, and maintain harvesting equipment in a safe manner.
7. Operate, repair, adjust, assemble, and maintain planting and tillage equipment in a safe manner.

1. Gather and apply data from precision agriculture technology to make informed production management decisions.
2. Discuss cultural practices in crop production.
