Program Information/Mission
The Environmental Science area of study at Illinois Central College is designed for students planning to transfer to a senior college or university for completion of a baccalaureate degree. During the two years at Illinois Central College, the student concentrates on building a strong foundation in the sciences and mathematics, and meets the requirements for the Associate in Science degree.
The Environmental Science program prepares students for a wide range of careers. Students will encounter issues such as sustainability, air and water pollution, resource management, energy resources, wildlife conservation, and ecological restoration. Careers are available in both private and government agencies including the EPA, National Park Service, state and local forestry districts, environmental consulting firms, soil and water conservation districts and waste disposal facilities.
